Samsung Galaxy Fit e

The Galaxy Fit E is Samsung’s cheapest fitness tracker ever but it doesn’t scrimp on the features. Beneath its minimalist design lies the tech to track your steps, automatically monitor sleep and automatically track a number of workouts. The pretty basic display can also show off notifications and display current heart rate, thanks to the on-board biometric sensor. You can dig into your data further through Samsung’s improving Health app, though some insights are easier to find than others. The Galaxy Fit e is a no-frills tracker that’s well designed and, like the Xiaomi Mi Band, comes in at less than Fitbit’s cheapest fitness band. £35, samsung.com/uk

Fitbit Inspire

Fitbit, a heavyweight of the fitness tracking game, puts its smarts to get you in shape into a more affordable design. The Inspire will track basics like step counts and distance covered but can also automatically recognise a host of different workouts too. Smartwatch features are kept to a minimum but you will get some of the most reliable sleep tracking going, making data easy to understand inside of its companion app. Bands are interchangeable if you want to mix up that look and five-day battery life means it’ll give you solid tracking time too. £69.99, fitbit.com/uk

Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4

If you really don’t want to spend big, the Mi Band 4 from the Chinese tech outfit Xiaomi is one to check out. For its fourth iteration, the Mi Band adds a gorgeous colour touchscreen that wouldn’t look out of place on a pricier fitness band. It covers the tracking bases, monitoring step counts and sleep as well as keeping tabs on your heart rate. It also offers the ability to track runs using your phone’s GPS and can even monitor pool time. You can control music playing from your phone and view notifications, while a 20-day battery life means you won’t be constantly grabbing for that charger. £34.99, mi.com/uk

Honor Band 5

Honor, the Chinese offshoot of Huawei, has built a reputation for making feature-packed trackers that undercut the competition. Continuing that theme, the Band 5 is fit for the pool and features a lovely touchscreen display that lets you swipe to see all your health and fitness data. It offers basics like step counts and sleep monitoring but also houses a SpO2 sensor measuring oxygen in your blood. That’s useful information if you’re hitting high altitudes. On top of that, it’ll let you see your notifications from your phone and is compatible with Apple Health to make this a great-value wearable. £29.99, argos.co.uk
