Let’s start in east Lincoln Park with this sleek-looking condo on the 20th floor of the Commonwealth Promenade Apartments, a high-rise complex designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the 1950s. Mies’s modernist mantra of “less is more” is reflected in the minimalist interior of this architect-owned home. Formerly a three-bedroom, the corner unit was converted to a two-bedroom layout with an open living and dining area, a dedicated den, and wrap-around views. Get it for $599,000 plus $1,478 in monthly HOA fees.

Next, consider this three-bedroom condo in the former Karpen-Standard Oil Building on South Michigan Avenue. The tenth-floor residence offers high ceilings and eastern views of Grant Park and the Lake. Despite the building’s 100-year age, the home feels fresh thanks to an open living space and a kitchen with new cabinets, countertops, and appliances. The $630,000 asking price includes parking. HOA fees run an extra $1,000 each month but cover perks such as access to the building’s fitness center.

In Canaryville, this historic 6,000-square-foot Victorian dates back to the 1870s, but seems much newer thanks to a full gut rehab in 2004. Inside you’ll find formal living spaces topped by dentil moldings, a newer kitchen, and a grand spiral staircase leading to four bedrooms and a cozy sitting room inside the home’s corner turret. There’s also a separate two-bedroom garden unit that can be rented out. The Southwest Side property recently reduced its price to $599,000.

Last but not least, we’ll take a look at this charming English Tudor style home in Sauganash, on the city’s Far North Side. The handsome structure features a brick, stone, and ivy-covered facade topped by a traditional slate roof. Arched interior doorways lead to an upgraded kitchen, a pair of bedrooms on the second floor, and a third-floor master suite. The $569,999 asking price includes a rear deck overlooking a grassy backyard and a detached garage.
