The things I’d do to be a fly on the wall in the Kardashian-West household. Gosh, that place is extravagant with its frozen yogurt machine and 9 fridges! AD recently got a look inside the home—past the appliances(!)— and it turns out that when it comes to interior design, the Kardashian-Wests are actually minimalists. While it’s a little shocking considering how colorful of a family they are, we probably should have seen this coming after they dressed down in sweatpants for their holiday card. Either way, we’re not judging! Let’s take a look inside their lofty crib.
The inside of the home boasts a neutral, mostly white palette, complemented by the sparse furnishings spaced out around the home. “Everything in the outside world is so chaotic. I like to come into a place and immediately feel the calmness,” Kardashian-West explains to AD of the home’s style. The L.A. home was purchased back in 2013, and with the help of Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt, the family has worked to open up the space and employ a simple design. “We changed the house by purifying it, and we kept pushing to make it purer and purer,” said Vervoordt.
Many were quick to comment on the mom-of-four’s Instagram post, condemning her for the lack of color in the home, especially when raising a family. However, Kayne notes that the minimalist design is kid-friendly. In fact,”The kids ride their scooters down the hallways and jump around on top of the low Axel tables, which they use as a kind of stage,” he says. Also, AD mentions that the home has secret playrooms tucked away that were not seen on the tour. Plus, we can’t forget about North’s pink monochromatic bedroom!
The six-year-old’s room, also designed by Vervoordt, is covered from floor to ceiling in all things pink and rosy. From the butterfly headboard to the ultra-inviting bedding to the vanity to the side table, this pretty-in-pink room looks like it was taken straight out of a fairytale. Surely fit for a princess, as well as a Kardashian!
Whether you’re a fan of the Kardashian-West home, or maybe just North’s room, you can’t deny that its design is striking. And at the end of the day, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West designed it with love.”This house may be a case study, but our vision for it was built around our family,” Kanye says.
