The Builder of the Most Expensive House in Miami Announces a $37.5M Modernist Palazzo in Golden Beach – The Big Bubble Miami

The builders 3 Indian Creek Drive, the most expensive single family home ever sold in Miami-Dade County, Shlomy Alexander and his Realtor sons, Oren and Tal, are at it again, with a new oceanfront mansion in Golden Beach.

Currently an empty lot and ne of the largest properties in Golden Beach, the Alexanders have listed the property at 401 Ocean Boulevard, while they begin building a contemporary castle by the sea. House and property together are listed for $37.5 million, with a finished product is designed by architect Chad Oppenheim to evoke the profile of a stately sailing yacht prowing into the sea.

The yachtish inspiration is apropos because the property has 125 linear feet directly on the ocean, a rarity in Miami. If it were a yacht, however, the thing would be gargantuan. By any stretch, 401 Ocean Boulevard is a huge house, with 19,000 square feet spanning 3-stories, with a ‘fourth floor’ roof deck. However, the interior forms are minimalist to the extreme, with massive rooms that are paneled in large sheets of bleached out and travertine. Instead of walls with doors and windows punched through, the house has either solid slabs of stone wall, or massive retractable glass walls. Meanwhile, on the third floor, a movable louver system provides shade and privacy and shade to the bedrooms.

Yes, it’s big, but there’s also something serenely minimalist about the design. Of course, designing serene minimalist, especially for clients with lots of money to spare, is an Oppenheim speciality.

This is an excerpt of the listing description I wrote for the property:

With 125 feet of de facto private beach, this residence perches just above the ocean, among the aquamarine blue, the iridescent sand, and the lusciously planted dunes. Living and entertaining areas extend all the way to the lapping waves of the Atlantic. Oppenheim’s bold, contemporary design merges indoor and outdoor worlds with massive, sliding glass walls and broad terraces on every level. A monumental four-story circular staircase leads to the roof deck, which features a Jacuzzi, fire pit, bar, and extraordinary views in every direction, including sunrises over the Atlantic and sunsets over the Miami skyline. At 19,000 square foot, this is a home designed for connecting with family, entertaining spectacularly, and living a life among art.
