Paint it black: See the modern update of a four-bedroom Forest Hills home built in 1948 – The Dallas Morning News

This renovated Forest Hills home features a recently-updated modern farmhouse design. Property owner and listing agent Jacob Moss said he always wanted to live in a black house, and he got his wish.

Originally built in 1948, the home sits on 0.46 acres, and Moss would describe it as a “modern ranch style”. Renovations were completed in early 2020.

Moss originally bought and designed the home to be his personal residence but said that he wanted to put it on the market after he saw the finished product.

“It was one we felt like really should go to market,” Moss said.

At 3,300 square feet, the home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and one half-bathroom. In keeping with its black, minimalist exterior, the inside of the home features clean lines, minimalist color tones and natural textiles, like wood accents throughout.

A large living space sits on the first floor with window-lined walls on either side. The kitchen and dining room are divided by a wall that features a refrigerator and built-in shelving.

A bedroom with an en suite bathroom sits at one end of the second floor, and a half-bathroom sits nearby down a hallway.

The primary suite sits on the first floor with a large bathroom attached. A sliding door adjacent to the bathroom provides access to a private outdoor shower. The bedroom overlooks the yard and has a fireplace and a walk-in closet.

There is a large landing area at the top of the stairs, with a nearby laundry room. The two upstairs bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and are set on opposite ends of the second story.

For Moss, an important feature in the home was an indoor-outdoor feel that corresponded to the tree-lined property. He said the home feels like an escape from the city.

“When you’re, like, in that house or on that lot, you really feel, like, miles away from Dallas,” Moss said.

Outside, the home features a large deck with space for outdoor living areas in the backyard. There are also living spaces on the front porch.
