Nestled in the jungle of Oaxaca, Mexico, the immersive new getaway Monte Uzulu flourishes in harmony with the local ecosystem. The boutique concept is heavily accented by the tropical flora of its setting within the small fishing town of San Agustinillo.
Mexico City-based design practice At-te collaborated on the design of the project with fellow Mexican studio Taller Lu’um, employing a slew of artisans to further instill a rugged and sustainable sense of authenticity. A minimalist, bohemian aesthetic defines the property’s 11 suites, which each overlook framed panoramic vistas and infuse abundant natural light. Straw lamps and handmade basketwork complement wooden furniture and pay homage to Mexican craftsmanship, while sustainable elements, like advanced rainwater harvesting, emphasize a respect to the local environment, too.
