When wandering into a jewellery shop, there are gorgeous jewellery pieces as far as the eye can see. From heavy chokers to necklaces lined with gemstones, gorgeous kadas (bangles) to massive rings. While a jewellery enthusiast might have felt their heart’s strings tugged at this sight – not everyone feels that way! Well, think of a person in the jewellery business saying so, seems unbelievable right? We got in touch with Dr C Vinod Hayagriv, Director, C Krishniah Chetty Group Of Jewellers and he surprised us by confessing that he has always been a minimalist. Well, if heavy jewellery has not inspired you much like the jeweller, then here are some jewellery shopping tips for all the people who love minimalist jewellery, by the jeweller himself!
Dainty Necklaces
If the minimalist in you runs away from the thought of something heavy and noticeable dangling from your neck, a dainty classic diamond necklace with minimalist details in a gorgeous silver hue is just perfect for you.
This necklace is proof that dainty necklaces are the way to a minimalist’s heart, and work well with eastern and western attires.
Delicate Chains
If you still don’t wish to opt for a necklace since a designed ornament hanging from your neck might feel like a lot – go for wearing chains instead. Many of us either stick to necklaces or pendants, and the glory of a delicate chain goes undiscovered. Although pendants give a touch of fashion to a neck piece, the chain itself shines through if worn the right way.
What is the right way, you ponder? Go for layering. Pair a simple chain with a slightly heavier one, and you shall be good to go. For example, this classic gold chain with 18Kt Yellow Gold appears subtle and elegant on its own. Thus, if you are wearing a white top with denim jeans – pair it with this gold necklace and suddenly your look shall have upgraded.
Yet, if you are dressing up for a party, a simple gold chain might be too subtle. Enhance your look with a blue, denim jacket and layer the chain with another classic gold chain with South Sea Pearls – and prepare to stun all.
Simple Studs
Of course, being a minimalist, you would run away from the hype of mighty drop earrings and usually resort to stick-ons or no earrings. However, always give a try to the ever so elegant studs.
These classic diamond stud earrings became an immediate favourite for a day at work (or work-from-home, currently). Subtle, small, and elegant, these shall work with most attires including casual salwar kameez as well as office power suits. Win-win? Surely!
Gold earrings with imitation pearls are another jewellery item that will appeal to the minimalist within you. Exhibiting a flowery pattern, they aren’t too shiny nor too funky or over-the-top – thus proving great for you!
Odd Bangles
While accessorizing the neck and ears is an important element when dressing up, if you usually procrastinate enough to not leave enough time for donning jewels. This is where the versatile bangle comes in.
A bangle doesn’t always refer to a heavy gold kada, or something laden with gemstones.
Go for simple ones like the solitaire diamond odd bangle made which shall look minimalist yet great with ethnic Indian clothing.
Or, if you are wearing a western dress or gown, the classic diamond odd bangle studded with an emerald in the center shall be your favourite accessory.
Ring Bands
Often considered the look-completer, our hands seem bare without any rings. Even as we don a gorgeous bangle, something feels missing as we look in the mirror. That something is none other than glorious rings.
Adornment for our fingers, getting the right ring for the minimalist is a tough job. Ditch the heavy, regular rings and go for subtle and elegant ring bands. Get a classic silver-hued one through this platinum ring.
Or add depth to your fingers through the classic two-hued platinum ring.
