The Le Cactus hotel is set to open later this month in the Warm Sands section of Palm Springs, California. The forthcoming concept—a hybrid between a traditional hotel model and Airbnb—was devised by Los Angeles–based hotelier and owner Matthew Kurtz, in collaboration with local hoteliers Richard Crisman and Jeff Brock, on the site of a former 1930s retreat.

“We saw a need for a fun, design-focused and affordable property, that blurs the line between traditional hotel operations and mom-and-pop short-term rentals that guests will be excited to visit year-round,” says Kurtz.

Set against the backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains, Le Cactus reflects a casual desert elegance with its whimsical yet minimalist design aesthetic. Upon arrival, guests are first greeted by a pink façade accented with green and white stripes.

Spanning 27 rooms, the hotel’s bungalow-style accommodations include a combination of one-bedroom suites and studios, each accentuated with a mixture of contemporary and vintage furnishings. Amenities include pool and hot tub, a massage room, hammock garden, and communal living spaces.
