Former Panthers player Mike Tolbert built a 10,000-square-foot custom home in Weddington just two years ago. The house hits the market Thursday for $2.4 million.
Quick background: Tolbert, a three-time Pro Bowler, was with the Panthers for five seasons, before going to the Buffalo Bills for a season in 2017.
Tolbert, now retired, planned to downsize in the next few years, once his kids get a little older. But with home prices sky-high in Charlotte, real estate agent David Hoffman encourages his client to sell now.
It’s not a coincidence that Hoffman’s had two Panthers listings this week. The other house was Josh McCown’s — the former Panthers back-up quarterback and Myers Park High School football coach.
“If someone wants to sell in the next 2-4 years, do it today,” he says. “Prices likely will be lower, or at least stay stagnant. We’re hitting a ceiling.”
Hoffman says he doesn’t have a crystal ball to see into the future, but his economist and real estate backgrounds tell him the sellers market may not be quite as hot as it is now later down the line.

So, Tolbert took the advice and is building another, albeit smaller, custom home in the Charlotte area.
The exact address is 1216 Parkhill Court. At 10,000 square feet, it has 6 beds and 8 baths. It’s on nearly 1.5 private acres.
Hoffman and Brandi Boncore of The David Hoffman Group share the listing.
The house has everything you’d expect from a multi-million dollar property: home gym, five fireplaces, an outdoor living area, pool and spa, artful wine storage, hidden movie theater, an enviable walk-in closet, gourmet kitchen — you get it.
“We love to bike and walk around the neighborhood and use the wooded trails,” Tolbert says of the estate. “And it’s convenience to Waverly, Blakeney, SouthPark, and Uptown Charlotte; it’s close to the interstate.”
The former fullback says his favorite spots in the house are “the huge entertainers dream basement” and the hidden movie theater.
With all of these features and the size of the estate, Hoffman says if this home were in, say, Myers Park or SouthPark, the price tag would be at least $4 million.
Here’s a look around.
