Los Angeles – Classic Home’s newest area collections are inspired by California sand and surf.
The southern Pacific coast beaches of Coronado and La Jolla along with the Mojave provided the natural texture and color inspirations for new collections that bear their names.
Mojave’s pattern emerges from the collection’s high-low woven construction and jute fiber – both natural and dyed black – as the weft yarns and cotton as the warp. “By interweaving these two fabrics at specific intervals, a raised lattice pattern emerges,” said the company. “The rug’s material choice makes it supple, durable, and sustainable.”
Made on a vertical loom with marled wool yarn, jute, and cotton, La Jolla presents “laid back beach vibes.” The marled wool, achieved with twisted wool plies of varying color, is hand woven into its geometric pattern in a subtle ombre. The wool also balances the jute fiber’s more rigid texture, creating a pliable product.
Coronado is made on a vertical loom with marled wool yarn, jute, and cotton. The marled yarn, made with twisted wool plies of varying color, is woven into a stripe pattern. Jute yarns strengthen the wool weave and add a subtle texture to the rug.
As its biggest growth category, indoor/outdoor is also a focal point this season for Classic Home, with al fresco-friendly introductions in both rugs and decorative pillows.
Banning and Yuma – also named for Southern California sites – are two new rug collections, both made of polypropylene and reversible. Banning is a herringbone style available in four colors – sand, pebble, gray and charcoal; and Yuma is a textured solid that comes in sand, pebble and gray.
Terrain is a new Villa by Classic Home indoor/outdoor pillow collection. Working in neutral tones and distressed fabrics, the collection’s soft pieces are designed to complement a range of décor settings – “modern and minimalist spaces, desert getaways, forested retreats, and contemporary classics,” the company offered.
Terrain draws inspiration from Classic Home’s earthen textures, a mix of warm and cool colors, and natural landscape-inspired patterns. Folded and pleated fabrics give texture and depth to several pillows, their patterns echoing layered land formations. Other pillows such as Montana and Jasper use agate and marble mineral formations as inspiration, each piece a unique interpretation of naturally occurring patterns.
Embellishments include raw fringe edges, hand-dipped tiedye patterns and chenille fabric “that match today’s textile trends while remaining true to classic styles. This makes Terrain incredibly versatile and easy to pair with existing décor schemes,” noted said Linda Minjares, vice president, textiles and rugs. “The rate of innovation at our factories in India has pushed our designs to the forefront of today’s trends. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and am looking forward to introducing these pieces into our customers’ spaces.”
Classic Home will be showing these new rug collections and much more at its World Market Center showroom, C-309, during Las Vegas Market, Jan. 25-30.
