Tiny homes are a big fad right now. It’s interesting seeing how much they can actually pack into these things. It’s cool that people can live a minimalist life like that.

Anyway, here’s a super chill tiny home that you’ve got to see that is inspired NASA’s Apollo Lunar Landers. It was built by boat builder Kurt Hughes of Multihull Designs and to build it he used boat design tactics. It’s also ultra-light and extremely portable. It’s also fireproof!

The 250 square foot lunar lander replication currently sits somewhere on the banks of the Columbia River in Washington.

Puzzled by the design of the Apollo lunar landers, catamaran-designer Kurt Hughes decided to build one, both as proof of concept and as a very personal vacation home on the banks of the Columbia River.

Hughes told Fair Companies that he’d like to make his original plans available to the public so they can make their own:

Hughes believes his ultra-light tiny home – the 250-square-foot structure weighs just 3,000 pounds – can, and should, be replicated, especially for those building tiny homes on wheels where weight is paramount. He’s working on a manual to show others how to create their own SIP panels.

I want one!
