Here at Allure, we’re big fans of bathing, especially after a long day. There’s nothing quite like lighting up a few candles, pouring yourself a glass of red wine, and soaking in a tub of warm water. (Pro tip: if you like the idea of baths but get super bored once you’re actually sitting in the water, try setting up your laptop to watch a new episode of your favorite show.) The only thing this aforementioned relaxation equation is missing? Maude‘s new bath collection, of course.

If you haven’t heard of Maude before, the brand is known for its minimalist and gender-neutral sex toy, along with a heavenly massage oil candle that smells like amber and cedar leaf. Now, the brand has added bath salts, a coconut milk bath, and compressed towels to its luxurious yet affordable roster.

Its bath salts, which are hand-harvested salt from the Southern Dead Sea, are a comfortingly fragrant addition to any self-care routine. I added an ample shake into hot running water and felt like I turned my bathtub into a cauldron. The earthy salts relaxed my mind and body and felt both cleansing and purifying as my bathwater transformed into a buoyant sea of relaxation.

To make my bath as luxurious as possible, I also added a big shake of the brand’s coconut bath milk. The dehydrated coconut milk powder is skin-softening, ultra-hydrating, and rich in vitamin C; it’s said to help to maintain elasticity and contain anti-inflammatory properties. After soaking in both for 20 minutes, I got out feeling hydrated and utterly relaxed — a winning combo if you ask me.

While the products are incredibly chic in aesthetic, they have an important message, as well — the new Maude bath collection also reminds us that sexual wellness is about so much more than orgasms. “Too often, the focus is on the act of sex without consideration for creating a broader, more thoughtful intimate life,” says Maude founder, Éva Goicochea. “We believe that intimacy is not just about sex and should exist beyond the bedroom — and so do our customers. They asked us for [something for the] bath and we went and made those products.”

If your tub is big enough, take a bath after sex with your partner, or go for it alone. Of course, you can masturbate in the tub as well (but if you’re using Maude’s vibrator, stick with the shower or somewhere out of the water, as it’s water-resistant, not water-proof). The Maude bath collection also includes hypoallergenic compressed towels, which are reusable up to two times. Use them at home or pack them in an overnight bag and add water for a gentle cleansing towel to be used before or after sex.

Both the mineral bath salts and the coconut milk bath are available for $18 individually, or you can snag them both together in the Tub Kit for $32. The towels cost $12 for a pack of 10.

The BDSM community has a term called aftercare, which refers to checking in with one another after a scene is finished. Ice may be applied to bruises from activities such as spanking. Sex can often be a workout or leave you sore, even if there’s no impact play involved. But even when it’s not physically exhausting, the mental stimulation of connecting with another person certainly warrants a bath to take care of the mind and body. “Bathing, a ritual that provides health benefits including increased blood circulation and the release of stress-reducing hormones, makes you feel calmer and more connected to your body,” Goicochea says. “Whether alone or together, it provides an opportunity for a sensory and quiet moment, a respite from our tech-punctuated lives.”

Regardless if you’re using the bath collection after sex or simply because you deserve some relaxation after a hard day, don’t forget to make time for self-care of the body and mind. We function better when we feel taken care of, and while there’s more to self-care than a bath, it’s a pretty good start.
