The Hotel Spas To Travel For This Fall – Forbes

These new and entirely redesigned spas provide the ideal retreats for a wellness escape this fall, from the wilderness of Cambodia to the Hamptons.

Shinta Mani Wild, Cambodia

This summer the Bensley Collection’s jungle camp Shinta Mani Wild launched its all-natural Khmer Tonics Spa. Here in the wilderness of South Cardamon National Park, you can now retreat to the inviting treatment rooms of this new spa for therapies using plants, herbs and spices from the surrounding rainforest. With treatment rooms set high up in the tree canopy amid natural boulders, this relaxation time gives you a chance to soak up the lush surroundings. Treatments include natural heat healing, detoxifying facials and river-stone foot massages in a waterfall pool.

Shou Sugi Ban House, United States

Having just opened in the spring of 2019, Shou Sugi Ban House is still one of the newest wellness retreats to pay a visit to. It’s also the first of its kind in the Hamptons, designed according to the Japanese principles of wabi-sabi and an appreciation of the natural world. Wellness treatments range from reiki and hydrotherapy to advanced skincare and massage, with activities such as yoga, tea ceremonies and beach hikes. Unwind in the spa’s indoor and outdoor relaxation lounges and hop between its steam room, saunas, experience shower with chromotherapy, hydrotherapy plunge pools and après-sauna ice fountain.

Azerai la Residence, Vietnam

This month, Azerai La Residence revealed its reimagined spa, which having been completely redesigned, is more than 50 percent bigger than before. The hotel had already won awards for having Vietnam’s best boutique spa but now it offers a more comprehensive wellness experience with new thermotherapy facilities, Finnish saunas, steam rooms and an ice fountain. Designed by French-Canadian architect Pascal Trahan, the space now exhibits a minimalist aesthetic with Art Deco inspired detail. Tying in with the creation of the new wellness space, the hotel has also launched new signature treatments using local ingredients such as coffee, sea salt and green tea.

Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica, Peru

You wouldn’t necessarily think of the Amazon for wellness escapes but Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica did reveal its newly renovated spa earlier this year. Situated on the banks of the Madres de Dios River deep in the rainforest, ENA Spa aims to connect guests with nature, using products made from locally sourced ingredients in treatments offered in an open-sided cabaña. Treatments drawing on ancient Peruvian techniques include the Amazon Purification Treatment incorporating a cold stone massage using stones from the river and natural oils.

Chiva-Som, Thailand

The last few years have seen this legendary wellness resort embark on four phases of the first renovation in its 24-year history. Now the resort is set to reopen in October, marking the completion of this renovation’s fourth and final stage. For the final phase, Chiva-Som focused on redesigning its Health and Wellness area, Bathing Pavilion and Niranlada Medi-Spa, as well as the oceanside restaurant, Taste of Siam. The wellness resort will retain the wellness philosophy it has become known for but enhance this with tranquil new interiors and a wealth of new facilities including a hydrotherapy suite and flotation chamber.
