Planera

UK-based company Planera is set to launch the world’s only certified flushable and biodegradable sanitary pad—a product that will have a significant positive impact on the level of waste the industry produces each year. The pad breaks down in two parts. First, with the hydraulic action of the toilet flush, the layers of the pad get pulled apart and can start making their way down the drain line. Then, the 3mm cellulose fibres loosen and break apart. Planera was founded by Dr Olivia Ahn and engineer Aaron Koshy who were frustrated with the industry and saw a way to make a positive change.
